Estrella Mountains

Pic #6
Originally uploaded by Matt Callahan.
I took these pictures two weeks ago. I was getting dinner started and saw the color starting to build up out the kitchen window. I grabbed the camera and drove to the end of the subdivision. There's an open field where I took these shots. I would have liked to driven down the road a bit and taken the pictures from the reservation. That would have given me shots without the street lights but this color wasn't going to last. About ten minutes and it was all gone.

Wow Matt - nice photos! Nothing like the sunset in the desert. I've only been to Arizona a couple times but I remember that the sunrise and sunset were not to be missed!

Hi, Matt!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

It's a beautiful pic indeed! You always have to rush to take a pic like this because the colours disappear too fast... Too bad, but okay, it's the nature. Let's enjoy it as long as it lasts (how short it may be) . Some of the beauties never disappear, btw, they only change.

I agree about the sunset in the desert (as far as I can judge it) or on a "llanura". Would like to experience it one day. Sunsets and sunrises in the mountains are not bad either. :-)

Lovely pics. I haven't seen a good sunset in a while.

But I must admit (although I'm biased), there is nothing better than an ocean sunset. :)

Especially if you watch it all the way down until it disappears in the water.

Somehow I always believe that the Sun comes out of the sea and disappears behind the mountains...

Hm. I guess there are a lot of places on earth that show a beautiful sunset (and sunrise). That's the beauty of nature. I anyway invite you all to experience a sunset on one of the huts in the Alps nearby, socialising then with usually some beer inside, strolling more or less carefully around outside (maybe sharing little secrets ;-)), finally falling to sleep on a simple matress that appears to be the most comfortable place to sleep on earth, no matter if the person next to you is snoring or not.
