The influence continues.....

No Muzak here

This is my daughter's birthday present. Every kid in her school has an mp3 player. It kills me to see these kids strolling around with their iPods and cell phones as they leave school for the day. Some even carry laptops. After fighting with it for a few days, I've figured out all the secrets and loaded just over 60 cd's on it. I've snuck it away from her enough to know I'll have to get one for myself. No, it’s not an iPod, but I think it's the best choice for my (I’m the dad, who else is going to fix it?) needs. Battery life is quite impressive and changing the battery will be very easy when the time comes. Sound quality is quite good. Thanks to Adam for his input.

I ended up buying my son an MP3 player for his birthday, rather than one of these MP3 hard drives. I also bought one by Creative. The salesman said to us that because it had no moveable parts (as opposed to the type you bought) it should last longer. Yup...2 weeks old...and it's broken....now I get to test the warranty! I listened to it for a little while & I couldn not believe the sound coming out of something the size of a cigarette lighter....I am thinking I need one, too.

Hey!!!! Look at that? It's very pretty, no? ;) How does she like it?

And I like the music you have playing on it in the pic. I've heard that Ottmar Liebert character ain't bad.

Hm. You make me thinking about that Zen now ...
And I like the title of your post. It gives me a Star Wars feeling somehow. :)

Happy birthday to your daughter. May I ask how old? Did you manage to part with the gift? When the MP3 player went back to the store for replacement the clerk said that they get about 5 MP3 players back on any given day but for iPods it's easily triple that. I'm glad we bought what we did given our son's natural tendancy to break things.

She's 13. We are sharing for now. I've used it quite a bit in the house. I use a headphone from Sony that clips over the ear and lets me hear the sounds around me (kids screaming, cats and dogs chasing each oher, that sort of thing) but still enjoy the music. It gives my wife a break as I tend to always play music when I'm home.

I was thinking yesterday that I should become an mp3 player repair man. You read so much on the internet about how this brand freezes and this brand crashes. Wouldn't people rather fix them than return them for more hassels at the store?

Fix them? Heck no, not when they're under warranty....as soon as you open them up you know you're in trouble. Give me a new one.

Lucky you...a teenager! Just wait til she hits 16...those were the horrid years around here.

By the way, sharing is good...glad you can still get away with it.

I broke down and bought a really cheap MP3 player at Target. But it's bright green and only cost 40 bucks. Much better than one of those 300 dollar things! :)
