Moleskine

I had about 45 minutes to kill this afternoon and stopped at Barnes & Noble. I was hoping to find something of interest but nothing presented itself. It is becoming harder for me to find a book that peaks my interest. I don't have much time to read so perhaps I'm making it harder to warm up to a book. This preventing me from buying books that stack up in a corner never to be touched.

Before I left the store, I noticed on the far wall there was a collection of notebooks. I steered myself in that direction and found that Barnes & Noble carries the Moleskine brand notebooks Ottmar has mentioned. They seem quite nice but I didn't make the purchase. As I drove away, I mentally kicked myself. As I said before, OL is my best "worst" influence. It would be nice to have a notebook to write down my blog thoughts that I seem to always have when far away from the keyboard. I'll order one online and save a few bucks.

Of course now I'll need a nice pen to go with the Moleskine. And a messenger bag of some sort. Doesn't make sense to carry around a pen and notebook in your hand. And if I had a messenger bag, there would be room for an iPod.....

I know what you mean about Ottmar's and the temptations he leads us too! I've been looking into buying a GPS system for the summer to play along in the treasure hunt he talkd about. Good luck in finding that pen. Ask Ottmar to endorse one and we'll all go looking to buy it!!

I was able to resist the whole iPod mania until today and still feel pretty relaxed. But I certainly wouldn't have been able to withstand buying such a notebook!!
Gladfully I still have no credit card so I'm simply no able to order online. But that might change very soon which could lead me into trouble.

P.S. I'm already thinking how much copies of "Winter Roses" I'll order first. Maybe 5? The CD should make a nice xmas presents for certain people.

Hey, Luz, you remember what I told you--don't buy a GPS until Ottmar hides something near you, or somewhere you're willing to travel. Like...Santa Fe. lol

And Boris--keep resisting!! An MP3 player's a great idea, but don't buy one until you've thoroughly researched. You might find differently (Ottmar certainly did), but my opinion after looking through all the research was that the iPod is way overpriced compared to its competition, and it definietly isn't the best player on the market. But I'll quit rambling, hehe sorry :-[

But oh, Moleskine sounds good! Or one of those portable recorder dealies...

So Adam, what kind of MP3 player would you suggest then?

Different players for different people. Some might indeed be best suited for the iPod. I find Creative's Zen Touch is my personal favorite. Thicker than the iPod, $50 cheaper ($100 cheaper for the 40 GB versions, like I have), twice the battery life, and better sound quality. The main problem with it? It's not as cute as the iPod....hehe. And it's a tiny bit thicker. But I don't mind. Now go out and get that GPS! ;)

Adam, thanks for the info on the iPods. I did see that player you talked about and will definitely check it out.

I've actually been looking at the new iPod minis (not for me, unfortunately...but I really have no need for that kind of portability). The Zen micro is slightly more expensive but has 5GB instead of 4GB.

I have no use for the GPS...I won't be anywhere near any of OL's concerts this summer.

if you can prove that we're related, sure. it helps, too, that he was a really nice brother and took me everywhere with him even though he didn't have to.

Are you younger or older than Matt?

Oh, and be careful with what you say about being related. Maybe Heather can search some centuries back. :) By the way, Callahan sounds pretty European. Irish ancestors?

I'm 6 years older but she likes to mother me. You'll be surprised how European we are. On my mothers side we have the Overturf and Schaefer families. My grandparents spoke German at home. All things considered, we probably have a bit more German than any other blood line. Theres some American Indian too. Megan did some research and knows a bit more of the history.

Wow!! That sounds pretty German indeed! I would have thought about more anglosaxon roots considering the name. Any idea of which German part where your ancestors? I mean north, south, Saxony etc.
And it sounds as if there were more Callahans than you two, right?
