Momentary Reprieve

In the middle of my workday, during the endless paper shuffling and phone calls, I found some unexpected relief. I was placed on hold after calling a customer and was greeted by radio station identification. At this point, I normally fear the worst. Ten minutes of rap, hip-hop, or –gasp- country music. Instead, I was treated to the soft and instantly comforting introductory notes of Surrender 2 Love. In that very instant, my shoulders relaxed, my face creased with a smile, and all was right with the world.

You never know how long you’ll be on hold. Unfortunately, it only lasted for about ten seconds and my joy was interrupted by a voice on the line. No matter. In my world, I’ll take what I can get.

From the South

There has been a strong wind blowing in from the south over the last two days. Standing outside, I can’t help but think of where the wind is coming from. I imagine a place a few hundred miles south, somewhere in Sonora. Mexico. I haven’t spent any time there. It’s place in my imagination. A quiet town with a nice outdoor restaurant where a nice meal could be enjoyed. Maybe there’s a square in the center of town that people gather at for celebrations. People walk from place to place; you rarely see a car on the streets. The world moves much slower here. I wonder if this place really exists.

March 12 - Sunrise

Last Saturday, I headed up to my favorite spot to watch the sunrise. The mist that morning made for pretty poor pictures of the actual sunrise but when I turned around, this image presented itself. The weather has turned back to normal and the grasses and weeds that have grown so well after the rains are starting to die. Wildfires should be a real threat this summer.

For Borya. I promised pictures of my "idol worship". I love how these three pictures work together. I'm planning something similar for new Devoe negra pictures posted recently.

Who put this road here?
